Taking pictures of people in their normal environment, un-candid can be exciting. Personally, I think these pictures have much more meaning and can remind you of a time in your life that was very comparable.
I caught this couple on the subway system in Washington D.C. I really liked how he was showing her affection. I really liked the fact they were by themselves because it gave me a better opportunity of catching them in this moment.
I have to admit, even though everyone warns you how bringing a child into this world will change your life, you have to experience it to believe it. It has been a phenomenal 6 months. Yes, there are those sleepless nights but that is easily forgotten when she looks at you with those big blue eyes and smiles.
I still remember when we brought her home and I decided to start this picture series. She was so small, only woke to eat, and didn’t move. Now, she’s almost crawling and we can’t get her to sit still. This picture series is actually getting more challenging because she wants to scoot off the couch each time. Fortunately, she is always smiling and it never takes more than a few shots to get the one I want.
This time we took pictures of her laying down and sitting up and both were good but I think this one of her sitting is by far the best.

The past week I’ve been working a lot of nights and have not had time to post. This time a year people are up on ladders cleaning gutters, inspecting their roof, and deer hunting. These activities unfortunately increase my business because many will often fall. I suggest being careful if you are doing anything that involves being more than 3 feet off the ground.
Here is a picture taken of my nephew and niece. I was standing taking pictures of the ocean and turned around and caught them just at the right moment (it was not staged).
If you think about it, it’s kind of scary that you are always being watched. You never know when someone may snap a shot of you. This guy was very interested in his MP3 player. He never noticed he was being photographed.
I always like finding interesting people. As I was walking around Chicago, I came across a guy at the cross walk wearing neon yellow headphones. I politely asked if I could take his picture and he obliged. Later, when I was processing the picture I noticed the red buses in the background. I think the red adds a lot to the picture.
Recently, we went home for a friends wedding and had just enough time to visit with family members. Because we live a few hours a way, our baby girl doesn’t get to interact with her extended family. Here is a picture taken at her great grandmothers house playing with grandpa and great grandma.
Our baby girl continues to cooperate when taking her picture on the couch. I’m thinking her 6 or 7 month picture will have her sitting up.
Wow has she grown!!!

When you’re walking around big cities you will often come across some unusual and sometimes strange people. When we started our photo walk with Steve Huff we were walking in the rain and the temperature was in the mid 50’s. As we came around a corner there was a man walking in the street in only tennis shoes, shorts, and tight t-shirt. I quickly took a picture which was obviously underexposed. Personally, I think the shot worked well, it gave the subject an interesting and somewhat scary look.
My baby girl is obviously still trying to figure out what’s going on around her. We have a cat and dog and every time they walk by her, she gives them one of those glares that says “who and what are you”. While visiting at my mom’s, her cat showed a lot of interest in Lyla. Lyla definitely was eyeing him back.
I like seeing interesting people. As I was walking around Chicago, I came across this gentlemen with an interesting hat. Mostly, I liked the contrast between his hair and the hat. The umbrella and his companion added a little extra to the shot.
